Hollow/
sodium-filled valves

Present legislation on emissions inevitably leads to an increase in the temperature in the combustion chamber compared with the past.

The exhaust valves are subject to a proportional increase in running temperature and, in order to reduce the temperature within the limits imposed by the material, SCARPA & COLOMBO resort to a particular solution of construction, involving the axial hollowing of the stem, filling the cavity obtained with an adequate quantity of sodium. Some valves, particularly for racing applications, may be hollowed just for reasons of lightness.

At the customer’s request we provide the assistance necessary for the design of this type of valve.
